Childrens

First Church San Jose has a dynamic ministry for children including Sunday School, Children’s Church, and Music is for Kids summer music and arts workshop. The church also hosts an annual event on October 31, Community FunFest, to provide children with a safe and entertaining alternative to trick-or-treating.

Sunday School

Sunday School classes are offered for children ages 3 through 14. The Sunday School department provides an age appropriate approach and lively environment to learning God’s Word. On the last Sunday of each month, all classes gather to participate in a Children’s Church service, a church service tailored toward school-aged children. Sunday School is offered every Sunday from 9:45 a.m. to approximately 11:15 a.m.

Music

Each summer First Church San Jose hosts a children’s music and arts workshop called Music is for Kids. This event features music rehearsals, arts classes, team building exercises and is culminated with a musical production at the conclusion of the workshop. Home Bible Studies

First Church San Jose holds weekly Bible studies throughout the South Bay, to allow people to learn more about God’s Word in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. The Home Bible studies allow people a forum to answer questions and discuss the Word of God. Hospitality Ministries

The Hospitality Ministries at First Church San Jose consist of ushers, hostesses, telephone follow-up, nursery and kitchen ministries. The purpose of the ministries are to provide a welcoming and accomodating environment for visitors and members alike. Ushers and hostesses provide a warm welcome and any assistance needed to make a visit pleasant. Nursery staff provide child care every service for children ages 2 years and younger. Every visitor to First Church San Jose will receive a telephone call, thanking them for visiting and extending an offer to return for another service. Finally, the Kitchen Ministry caters numerous church events each year, including monthly leadership meetings and holiday banquets.

Men

The Men’s Ministry hosts an annual retreat, periodic community prayer breakfasts and outdoor activities to promote friendship and spiritual strength for members and friends.

Media Ministries

The Media Ministries includes the communications, sound, audio, video, multimedia, information technology, marketing and church history ministries. While many of these ministries are not readily visible, they play an integral role in the smooth operation of church services and events. Every service, special performance and commununity event is photographed to capture and document the life and experiences of First Church San Jose and its members. The sound ministry enhances the listening experience to ensure the congregation can hear and understand the spoken word, music and lyrics. The audio ministry records every service while special events are video taped. For the added convenience of those in attendance at a First Church San Jose service, the multimedia ministry provides visuals of songs, announcements and scriptures in English and Spanish at every service. The information technology ministry provides technical support for all technology at First Church, while the marketing ministry provides materials and support to promote First Church San Jose activities.

Missions

Heeding the Great Commission of going into all the world and preaching the gospel, First Church San Jose has been a staunch and active supporter of home and foreign missions. With a local and global vision, First Church San Jose has built a beautiful United Pentecostal Church headquarters facility in San Jose, Costa Rica, started a homeless outreach and food bank for the underprivileged in the San Jose area and established several daughter works. Additionally, from this church, new California home missions churches were established in Folsom, Glendale, Redwood City, Hollister, and a Spanish-speaking church in downtown San Jose. The church has also donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to establishing churches around the globe.

Music

The focus of the Music Ministry of First Church San Jose is to create an worship-enhancing, God-focused atmosphere in each service, to glorify God, and to lead others into His presence. As commanded in His Word to "let everything that hath breath praise the Lord", the Music Ministry offers various avenues to worship the Lord, including a mass choir, praise teams and special groups. Multicultural Ministry

The Multicultural Ministry of First Church San Jose provides translators for church services and special events, and serves as a support system for non-English speaking community members. PSE Sign Language Ministry

This ministry interprets every service for the hearing impaired in attendance, using PSE Sign Language. The ministry also periodically hosts classes to teach congregation members and friends PSE Sign Language so they can converse with the hearing impaired members and visitors. Signs and Wonders Sign Team

Signs and Wonders is a vibrant dramatic interpretative worship ministry whose purpose is share the gospel of Jesus Christ to the deaf and hard of hearing by sharing the joy of music through interpretive worship. Anointed music can reach into the soul, soften the heart and prepare it to receive the seed of God's Word. Signs and Wonders' goal is not to simply interpret the song, but to become the song through personal commitment to worship and deaf evangelism. With the expressed desire to become a song of worship and to put that emotion into a language the deaf can see and understand, the music of Christ's love can flow and bless all people.

Singles

The Singles Ministry offers several activities throughout the year including camps, dinners, barbeques and picnics for single adults and single parents.

Seniors

The Seniors Ministry, More Than Conquerors, are an active ministry at First Church San Jose. This ministry regularly plans social events and services throughout the year for senior church and community members. Events include dinners, parties and outings around the San Francisco Bay Area. This ministry often crosses generational boundaries as the children and even grandchildren of the the members participate in the activies and functions being hosted by the group. Women

The Ladies Ministry is designed for women ages 13 and over. This ministry gathers periodically for informal banquets and other activities to strengthen existing friendships and forge new relationships. An annual Ladies’ Retreat is a special time to fellowship, worship together, as well as developing new and strengthening old friendships.

Youth

Revivalution Youth Ministries offers activities and programs for teens and young adults, encouraging spiritual growth, development and relationship in our youth. Revivalution youth meets most Friday evenings for events or activities. Having a civic connection with the youth in San Jose, the Revivalution youth also regularly host dinners and/or events throughout the year for neighborhoods and visitors.
